The panelists are Berhan Ben Ahmadi (Social Democrats), Bilal Ates (Centre Party), Janne Välilä (Finns Party), Muhis Azizi (National Coalition), Paco Diop (Left Alliance), Solli Norro (Christian Democrats), and Ulises Marquez (Greens). Immigration specialist Vilppu Palmberg of ETNO will be hosting the event.

Pauliina is Our New Supervisor in Runosmäki

We have a new employee in Runosmäki. Pauliina Lampi has begun her work as a supervisor of intercultural activities. She has finished her Master’s degree in the fields of Cultural research and Multiculturality. It is her hope to get to know a wide diversity of people and backgrouds in the activities of Together Association as soon as the pandemic situation is over.

Groups Canceled in March

On the basis of recommendations from health authorities all our group activities will be canceled in March. However, individual visitors may come and visit us safely. It is possible to make an appointment with the language advisors for tutoring of checking excercises. And of course, you can talk to us on the phone.

Thank you for your patience. Hopefully things will be a little closer to normal in April.

Spring Term is Here

Our hobby groups in Varissuo and Runosmäki begin on January 25th. There are both old and new activities in the schedule. Everyone is welcome and no sign-up is needed except for the handicrafts groups in Runosmäki.

However, we need to abide by all current Covid-19 restrictions which in the beginning means that only 10 people (including the instructor) may attend the groups. Let’s start small and hope that better times are ahead.

Our weekly program will run until May 28th.

The Autumn Season is over

The rough year 2020 which was shadowed by the Covid19 pandemic is coming to its end. The Together Association managed to complete its weekly activities almost as planned before the preventive measures in Finland Proper forced us to close. Thanks to everyone for their patience. Hopefully we can continue in spring 2021. More information will be given in January. Until then: let’s be extra careful.

Associations and interest groups can reserve a weekly time slot for their own activities in the premises of Together Association in Varissuo and Runosmäki. For this purpose, a meeting will be held on the 17th of August, 2020 at 5 o’clock p.m., address Nisse Kavon katu 3. In this meeting, the operating rules will also be revised. The premises may not be reserved for family gatherings.

The Exhibition is Now Open

The exhibition Varissuo 2.0 – tarinoita maailman kylästä (Varissuo 2.0 – stories from the global village) is now open at the Main Library of Turku City (address Linnankatu 2). It will last until the end of August. Welcome!

We’ll Remember You, Kristiina

Kristiina Vartiainen, a board member and longtime volunteer of the association has passed away after suffering from a serious illness. We remember Kristiina as a colorful and warm person who still would have had plenty to give. Our condolences to the family.

Kristiina is one of those people whose story is told in the Varissuo 2.0 exhibition in Turku City library 2.7.–30.8.
