Varissuo 2.0 is an art project. Its goal is to tell stories of Varissuo with its people’s own voices. In 2019, three professional artists, Sanni Saarinen (photography), Veera Lehtola (video and literary art), and Tommi Parkko (poetry) have contributed in the project which has involved some 50 Varissuo residents altogether. As a result, a blog with the name Maailman menoa Varissuolla (‘Ways of the World in Varissuo’) has been triggered. The multidisciplinary artistic outputs will be introduced at the Main Library of Turku in April 2020.
Project Varissuo 2.0 has its own Facebook-page. Its implementation is sponsored by the Varsinais-Suomi Regional Fund of the Finnish Cultural Foundation, Arts Promotion Centre Finland, and the Cultural Board of Turku City.

The YOUME project aims to promote immigrants’ integration by supporting their mental health. The purpose of the project is to develop a Mental Health Ambassadors’ Model to support mental well-being of immigrants. In the Mental Health Ambassadors’ Model, the immigrants act as volunteer ambassadors in their own communities discussing the mental well-being topics with members of their own networks. Experts of the project educate and mentor mental health ambassadors from different language and cultural groups. The two-year project is implemented in cooperation with Turku University of Applied Sciences, Opetuskoti Halinen, Turun Kriisikeskus, and the Psychiatry sector of Turku University Hospital. The project is funded by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund of the European Union (AMIF).
