The YOUME project (2019‒20) aimed to promote immigrants’ integration by supporting their mental health. The purpose of the project was to develop a Mental Health Ambassadors’ Model to support mental well-being of immigrants. In the Mental Health Ambassadors’ Model, the immigrants act as volunteer ambassadors in their own communities discussing the mental well-being topics with members of their own networks. Experts of the project educated and mentored mental health ambassadors from different language and cultural groups. The two-year project was implemented in cooperation with Turku University of Applied Sciences, Opetuskoti Halinen, Turun Kriisikeskus, and the Psychiatry sector of Turku University Hospital. The project was funded by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund of the European Union (AMIF).
